New Affiliate System

by Chris on December 1, 2008

First of all I need to apologize for the problems you have might have experienced with ads either being delayed appearing or being removed from your blog. This was a glitch that was found and solved, but not after some people had frustrations with it. Do let me know if you see the problem appear again!

I was brought in to make improvements and I have to admit the improvements have taken longer than they should have, but I am hoping, with your feedback, things will be much better from here on.

New Affiliate System

Another problem people have been having was with the affiliate system so we are from today moving to a new system that I hope you will find more profitable and MUCH easier to understand.

The old system had problems with transparency and fraud because you were told you would get $10 for each person you signed up.

So of course we get people signing up and referring their other email addresses:-

To counter this, “fraud prevention” was put in place where any referrals had to have the code up on a site with a region in place for 30 days.

But of course we couldn’t be too transparent about how it worked because the fraudsters would just use it as a blue print to cheat the system.

Now when you are not 100% transparent you annoy the perfectly innocent and honest people who were expecting $10 for each of their referrals when in fact only one of their referrals had installed the code.

So the new system is much easier to understand and has fraud prevention built-in.

Rather than a flat $10 you will get 5% of whatever your referrals buy or sell, ongoing while they remain a member.

So if you refer someone who sells an ad worth $100 you get $5. If you refer someone who buys a $100 ad you get $5. And you keep getting those commissions for each ad they renew or continue to sell.

Make sense?

Before you would get paid once, now if you refer a good blogger or advertiser you will keep getting paid month after month after month!

Feedback Welcome

As always, please let me know if you have questions or problems, either in the comments or using our contact form.

Nice to see you have solved the affiliate system issues. I have not been affected at this point, but hopefully these changes will be beneficial to those of us who are honest. I have only had 11 people signup through my blog and not seen a dime, so I don’t expect much of a change on my end. All the best - Matt.

I think the people who do best will be people like John Chow and others who educate their readers on the system, how to sign up, add the code or buy ads, but because it is an ongoing commission now you do not lose out if the people you refer are just not very good at working technical things out :)

I put your affiliate banner on my site a few months or so ago, but really didn’t understand how anything worked. So I did nothing.

Today, I received notification from PayPal that you transferred $90.03 to my account. $30.00 for Advertising and $60.08 for Affiliate.

That got my attention. I might add that this is the very first affiliate payment that I have ever received and I have tried numerous. Not that the check was so huge, but just the fact that it worked was exciting. Now, I will put some effort to make it work better and better.

I still don’t completely understand how everything works, but I do comprehend the compounding effect of residual income. The more people that I refer, the more they will spend and the more I earn. If they keep on advertising, I keep on earning. If they happen to be a big advertiser I earn big.

Now I have to figure how to get Apple Computers or Toyota to sign-up through me so I can order that new boat.

Glad to hear that everything is solved.

I am actually having a problem with Pay Per Post. I have referred about 60 + people and still have not gotten paid by PPP. I would have guessed that at least one of those 60 + would’ve done at least one PPP by now, but I guess not?

So what your saying is, we don’t get the $10 for each sign up.
I would like constant money anyway, but I hate how cheaters ruin things for every one. :(

This change is very welcome , I also had confusions with my payments because I thought I will get paid for every join. As you have mentioned that is easy to fake so this system should work better than the last one.

i have 30plus signup, and I think I could have lots more.

I just hope they’ll remain active with performancing for me to earn commissions.

Thanks

I think that people will follow ways to get easy money if there are cracks in the system. If there was such an opportunity, everyone will use it. Not only fraudsters, everyone who has knowledge how the system works.

Thanks for the info. I haven’t started referring folks yet, but I plan on using Performancing Ads instead of Ad Sense and Ad Brite. I just have a simple little blog, and my website is actually hosted on a free site (It’s not that I’m cheap, I’m just really really short on cash, so I’m testing the waters before I spend money on anything). I hope rgR this week, all my efforts, coupled with Performancing Ads, will yield a profit. I’ll let you know:)

That’s good too. Instead of getting one time earning, we get recurring earning.

I think that I w0uld have preferred the flat rate per signup but still, 5% lifetime remains competitive somehow. To get that 10$ your affiliate needs to make 200$. Instead why not give a basic sign-up commission of 2$ + 5% ? it would make sense I think

Actually I haven’t think of this that serious. You could have end up paying lot of money for nothing. In this way someone should to a valid transaction for me to get benefit. Everybody wins situation.

Nice move I guess …

Cheers

Yes unfortunately with a flat rate system there’s always going to be people out there who spoil it for others by abusing the system :(
